The Randolph YMCA is excited to host a golf tournament to raise funds for the Y’s financial assistance fund on Tuesday, September 19.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Y, Kathy Fisher, “The board, volunteers and  committees and I are energized at the potential this golf outing presents!  I anticipate it to be  transforming and have a tremendous positive impact on the many communities that we serve .Inclusion of all people, regardless of ability to play is at  the heart of everything we do.”

Molly Servais,  Director of Development at the Y, notes the event will be held at the beautiful and challenging, Berkshire Valley Golf Club in Oak Ridge which has often been described as a “little piece of heaven “ by frequent golfers. The site, consisting of 600 acres in the picturesque Highlands region of northern New Jersey, is an 18-hole, par 71 - 6,800 yard, public golf course that presents unique challenges atop the ridge of Green Pond Mountain.

Area residents as well as YMCA members are serving on the golf committee, including event chair Howard Hessel, Lee Rouson, Paul Berchman, Ida Bochner, John Bowens, Elaine Brennick, Barbara Capsouras, Joe Constantino, Richard Coulter, Brenda DeNure, Terri Genardi, Faith Ginsberg, Susan Munizzi-Mirlas, Deborah Norman, Roger Ochoa, Mona Phillips, Jeff Rayner, Ned Sheehy and YMCA-CEO, Kathy Fisher.

Former New York Giant and Randolph YMCA Member, Lee Rouson, is serving as the celebrity chair of the event.  He has this challenge for area residents, “ As a life long member of the YMCA, from a member of the Greensboro, North Carolina Central YMCA 12 year old all-star team to serving as celebrity chair for the Randolph YMCA Golf Tournament, I challenge everyone who has been impacted by the Y, in some way, to come and beat the PRO (Pro football player, that is) in a fun filled, par 3 shootout! SEE YOU SEPTEMBER 19!"

Committee members are now seeking sponsorships and golfers for the event. Sponsorship opportunities range from $750 for a Hole sponsorship to $10,000 for a dinner sponsorship.

Registration begins at 11:30  a.m. followed by lunch at 11:45  a.m.. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.  The day  concludes with a  5 p.m. reception.  The fee is $900/foursome and $250 per golfer. One need not play to enjoy the outing.

Proceeds support the Randolph YMCA ‘s Financial Assistance Fund which gives everyone the chance to experience Y memberships and programs  regardless of their ability to play. Event chair and Randolph YMCA Board Member, Howard Hessel invites the community to participate, “By playing in or supporting the event through many of our sponsorship categories, you are not only helping the YMCA, you are helping our community.  So many of our neighbors, friends and family members depend on the Y and their dedicated staff to provide services that enhance their lives.  Please join me in being a part of this wonderful event.”
