RANDOLPH, NJ- The West Morris Area YMCA has been selected by the Parkinson’s Foundation as a host site for a viewing party to help educate Veterans with Parkinsons disease.  The YMCA will be showing “Veterans and Parkinson’s: Planning for the Future” which is Part 2 of a 3-part Webinar.  The viewing will be held on Thursday, October 26 from 3:00-6:00 pm.

"We are honored to have been selected as a host site for this Parkinson's Foundation/Veterans Association program,” said Ann Marie Peterson, Community Health Coordinator, West Morris Area YMCA. “At the West Morris Area YMCA, we honor our Veterans for their service.  We also value the vital role our Parkinson's community holds within our Y.  This program enables us to bring these two communities together, to raise awareness, provide information, and access to services."

Event check-in begins at 3pm.  The webinar will run from 4-5:30pm and includes a presentation by Emily Hall, LCSW, Southeast PADRECC Senior Social Worker, Central Virginia VA Healthcare System.  With a Q&A session to follow.  Light refreshments will be served.​

The West Morris Area YMCA is committed to Fighting Back Against Parkinson’s Disease.  As a Rock Steady Boxing affiliate site, we offer 6 Rock Steady Boxing classes are offered weekly.  Exclusive to the West Morris Area YMCA is Fight Back UH20, an aquatic boxing class held in the therapeutic Warm Water Pool. In partnership with the Parkinson’s Foundation, the West Morris Area YMCA hosts a Parkinson’s Disease Support Group.  This group is free and meets on the 3rd Monday of every month from 10:15-11:15am.  It’s open to both people with Parkinson’s and/or their care partners.  Monthly topics of discussion vary and often feature guest speakers.
