RANDOLPH, NJ- The Randolph YMCA raised over $66,000 at a series of events to benefit its 2nd Annual “Swim for Sally” charity fundraiser to build a new ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Locker Room.

“Swim for Sally” is an annual event held in memory of Sally Schenkman, a long-time Y member who passed away last year. Sally was not only an amazing wife, mother, friend, and award-winning nurse at Morristown Medical Center, she was also an avid swimmer who worked out at the Y daily.

Together, with the Schenkman family, the Randolph YMCA is raising money to build the Sally Schenkman ADA Accessible Family Locker Room in her memory. The locker room is part of the Y’s “Building What Matters” Capital Campaign.

Over 250 people participated in fundraising events such as "Dine Out for Sally,” when several local restaurants donated a percentage of their proceeds towards the Locker Room; “Spin for Sally,” an indoor cycling fundraising; “Sweat for Sally,” a fitness class fundraiser; “Aqua Fitness for Sally” and “Pickleball for Sally.”

“Swim for Sally” culminated on Oct. 20 with a live performance by Brendan Fletcher. Brendan, who appeared on NBC’s “The Voice,” donated his time and talent for the 2nd year in a row. Dinner, refreshments and raffle prizes were donated by local merchants.

Prior to the performance, dinner guests were inspired by Y members who told their stories of their need for the ADA Locker Room.

Earlier that day, over 88 swimmers participated in “Swim for Sally,” with individual swimmers and teams swimming to raise funds for the Sally Schenkman ADA Accessible Locker Room.

Major underwriters of “Swim for Sally” were Heymann & Fletcher, Esq., The Arrangement Salon and Day Spa, American Anesthesiology of NJ, Dickerson Dental Group, Ferrierro Engineering, Inc., Stormwater Compliance Solutions and Weis Markets, and Bloom Auto Group.
