RANDOLPH, NJ- Over 40 donors and friends attended the construction kick-off of the Randolph YMCA’s Building What Matters Capital Campaign on Sept. 28.

The event was held in the indoor track area with an unveiling of the architect’s rendering of the soon-to-be renovated area, which is the first phase of the capital project.

The indoor track area includes weight machines and free weights, and is one of the most widely-used work-out areas at the Y. A new track surface, natural lighting, new fitness equipment and an upgraded audio system are some of the improvements to the area.

“The Building What Matters Campaign is our first ever capital campaign,” explained Bill Lamia, CEO of the Randolph YMCA. Continuing, ”This campaign aims to secure the financial resources necessary to dramatically enhance our facilities.”

In addition to the renovated indoor track area, other improvements include upgrades to the current locker rooms and a redesigned Welcome Center.

“The highlight of the Building What Matters Capital Campaign is the addition of an ADA (American with Disabilities Act) accessible locker room. Providing barrier-free access for more than 1,000 people preparing for physical activity and aquatic rehabilitation, the locker room will also serve families and will include individual changing stalls and private showers

Senior leadership and the Y’s Board of Directors began the Campaign last year to focus on the current and future development of the organization.
